Dave DeMaria was born January 21, 1961 in San Jose California. He started playing guitar at the age of 7 years old. By age 12, Dave was playing professionally at weddings and corporate events.
At age 16, Dave began his studies in theory and jazz composition from local Jazz guitarist Sandy Erikson. His guitar influences were Larry Carlton, George Benson, Robben Ford, Eric Clapton, Pat Metheny, Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery and many more.
Between the ages of 19-24, Dave studied guitar with Boston Berkley College of Music grad Rick Vandivier, one of the most prolific jazz players in the area. It was through Rick that Dave was introduced to and had the opportunity to learn from such players as Tuck Andres, Michael Hedges, Bud Dimock, and Tim Volpicella. Dave also studied and played music at West Valley College, and San Jose State.
Dave married his wife Kim in 1986. He has 3 children, two grandchildren, and resides in San Jose California.
For the past 35 years, Dave has played all genres of music, primarily as a contract / studio musician performing at shows, working with bands, Jazz Guitar duo’s, and recording on local musician’s projects. In 1998 Dave made his decision to follow Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He now uses his musical gifts to perform in many of the Christian Churches in the Bay Area, including his home church in San Jose at Evergreen Valley church
